1. Stocks were modestly higher in a choppy session Thursday after a better-than-expected jobless claims report, successful bond auctions in Europe and earnings from Bank of America.
BofA led the Dow gainers, while Pfizer slipped.



2. Stocks finished modestly higher Thursday, posting a three-day rally, thanks to a better-than-expected jobless claims report and as financials rallied following BofA's earnings report. Still, gains were largely muted throughout the session as investors hesitated to jump in following the recent run-up in stocks.
BofA led the Dow gainers, while Pfizer finished lower.

3. Google delivers mixed results, with earnings of $9.50 a share on revenue of $8.13 billion; shares skid  



4. Earnings from Microsoft, Intel and IBM beat analysts’ expectations, while Google fell short.
