Something big is coming soon

CAPITAL TV, a niche channel for business-minded people produced by Online Dynamics (M) Sdn Bhd, aims to build a strong foundation in the local market before going abroad.

Online Dynamics chief executive officer Noor Azman Yusof said the company plans to offer contents similar to Capital TV's in other countries in Southeast Asia.

"We are currently in early talks with a few parties from overseas, who are interested to have our content in their country.

"We want to be a regional TV channel, but we strongly believe we need to establish ourselves in Malaysia first," said Noor Azman in a Business Times interview recently.

For a start, the company aims to capture more than two million viewers by end 2015.

At present, Capital TV is only available on HyppTV, which can be subscribed by Unifi customers for RM6 a month. It is estimated that there will be 400,000 Unifi customers by the end of this year, compared with around 300,000 currently.

"It is possible to hit the two million viewers mark, let's not forget it also take a while for Astro to hit the milestone," he added.

The company has invested some RM2 million so far. The investments are mainly for developing content as well as to set up the studio.

Noor Azman believes its operation would be able to be profitable by as early as next year.

For Noor Azman, the key to achieving the two-million-viewer mark will be driven by two main factors - its ability to develop more contents that suit viewers' demand as well as to make its channel available through other means.

"We need to establish ourselves as the business channel to watch by the business community.

"To do that, we need to develop content for the business community, which include stock market traders, capital market, the small and medium enterprises, and others," he said.

It currently has several in-house contents, including Brainstorm, Persona, Business Games, Money Talks and more.

"Over the near to medium term, we expect to introduce more programmes," he said.

As its channel is currently only accessible to Unifi customers, Noor Azman said, there may be plans to make its channel available through other media. This may include online portals.

"While I can't reveal exactly what the plan is, but, rest assured, we will be announcing something big soon," he added.
