KUALA LUMPUR--Malaysia's stock exchange said Wednesday that the
benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI index will include IHH Healthcare Bhd
(5225.KU) from Aug. 1 after the hospital operator raised $2 billion in the
world's third-largest initial public offering so far this year.
"The
FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series Ground Rules allow for the inclusion of
sufficiently large stocks after an IPO to ensure that the index accurately
reflects the market it measures," Bursa Malaysia Bhd. (1818.KU) said in a
statement.
IHH Healthcare will replace MMC Corp. Bhd (2194.KU) in the
30-share index, the statement added.
At the end of the first day's
trading Wednesday, IHH shares closed up 10.4% at MYR3.09 with 390 million shares
changing hands and valuing the company at US$7.82 billion, when the KLCI index
gained 0.2% to 1635.09.
