US MARKET BREAKING NEWS, 14 OCT 2011

1. Retail Sales Post Robust Gain of 1.1% in September; Import Prices Stronger at 0.3% Gain.
2. Stocks jumped at the open Friday following a better-than-expected retail sales, a strong earnings report from Google and amid optimism over the euro zone will find a solution to its debt crisis.
All Dow 30 components opened higher, led by Alcoa.

3. Stocks came off their best levels Friday as investors digested a handful of mixed economic reports, but were still higher amid optimism the euro zone would find a solution to its debt crisis.
BofA declined, while Google rallied.
4. Stocks closed near session highs Friday, with the Dow logging its best week in a month, amid optimism the euro zone would find a solution to its debt crisis.
 
The Dow and Nasdaq finished higher for the year, while the S&P logged its best weekly close since Jul. 2009.
