1. Come November 1, a revised vehicle tint regulation will come into play, allowing automobile owners to use a darker tint on their rear windscreen and rear passenger windows.
2. A band of ATM hackers, suspected to be foreign nationals, made off with nearly RM1.3 million from Affin Bank Bhd and Affin Islamic Bank Bhd outlets in Johor, Melaka and Selangor.
3. Police have vowed to track down fugitive sex blogger Alvin Tan as he continues to taunt them on Facebook — this time by superimposing pig snouts on the pictures of several Malaysian leaders, including Prime Minister Najib Razak.
4. Student activist Ali Abdul Jalil has been released after spending over 20 days in police custody. He was held for questioning for allegedly insulting the Johor royalty and the Selangor ruler in his Facebook postings.
5. Penang has been described as a “hotbed of secret society and gang activity” after police revealed that it is home to more than 8,000 gang members.
6. A Malaysian woman who was arrested in Sweden along with her husband for hitting their children has been freed after serving a 14-month sentence at the Hinseberg women’s prison.
7. Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad warns that rebels from neighbouring nations could try to establish an Islamic State in Malaysia, and tells Putrajaya to take the threat of the IS movement more seriously
8. Winter is approaching and time is running out for Malaysian investigators who are still unable to access the crash site of MH17 due to continued fighting in the area.
9. Shares of Australian miner Lynas Corp Lynas Corporation hit a five year low today, tumbling 25 percent to close at A$0.09, after it announced another full year loss and a deeply discounted share placement.
10. Budget carrier AirAsia has clinched the ‘Best Low-Cost Airline’ Award from Business Traveller Asia Pacific for the third year running.
