SHANGHAI--A Malaysia Airlines plane and a China Eastern Airlines Corp. (0670.HK, CEA) jet grazed each other Thursday on the tarmac of Shanghai's primary international airport, according to local authorities, who said no one was injured.

In a brief statement, the Shanghai Airport Authority said the two planes "scratched" each other at F9, a reference to one of Pudong International Airport's taxiways. The brief statement offered no information about what caused the incident.

The statement identified the China Eastern jet as an Airbus A340-600 and the Malaysia plane as a Boeing Co. (BA) 777-200. The carriers couldn't be reached for comment.

Photos on the circulated on Sina Corp.'s Weibo microblog service showed a tear in the left-side tail-wing of the China Eastern plane.

Flight registers show both planes were slated to depart Pudong on Thursday afternoon, and are now delayed. The Malaysia Airlines MH-389 flight was headed to Kuala Lumpur and the China Eastern MU-583 jet was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles, according to Flightstats.com.
