KUALA LUMPUR--Malaysia plans to establish an exchange for gold
futures and other precious metals, offering investors additional asset classes
as part of efforts to invigorate the country's capital markets, Prime Minister
Najib Razak said Wednesday.
"Towards this end, after taking into account
the domestic landscape and experiences of similar markets around the world, the
Securities Commission will present a comprehensive proposal to the government,"
he said during a speech at the launch of the country's private pension
administrator.
He didn't provide a timeline.
